Aberdeen Foyer joins Challenge Poverty Week 2026
Aberdeen Foyer is proud to be taking part in Challenge Poverty Week 2026, joining hundreds of organisations across Scotland in raising our voices against the injustice of poverty and championing a fairer, more equal society. Challenge Poverty Week aims to build understanding of the realities of poverty, challenge stigma, and highlight the solutions that can help people and communities thrive.
At Aberdeen Foyer, tackling poverty is at the heart of everything we do. Every day we work alongside young people, adults and families to overcome barriers, build confidence, improve wellbeing and access opportunities that create brighter futures. We know that poverty affects every part of a person's life, from housing and health to education, employment and financial security, which is why this campaign is so important to us.
Throughout the week we will be hosting a range of free activities and information sessions:
Monday 5th October: Money and budgeting advice, Better Off Calculations, and support with Adult Disability Payment applications.
Wednesday 7th October: The Foyer Team will be attending the Empower Aberdeen event at Aberdeen Music Hall, offering guidance and support around fair work and employment opportunities.
Friday 9th October: A programme focused on communities and volunteering, including a wellbeing community walk, CV support, interview skills workshops and family-friendly budget craft activities.

Together, we can challenge the stigma surrounding poverty, raise awareness of the issues affecting our communities, and help build a Scotland where everyone has the income, opportunities and support they need to live with dignity.

Aberdeen Foyer is a stall holder at the Empower Aberdeen Event

This large-scale community drop-in event brings together 60 trusted local charities, advice agencies, and support services under one roof. Residents can get free, face-to-face guidance on energy, housing, wellbeing, funding, employability, and everyday cost-of-living challenges.
