The Foyer is delighted to announce the appointment of its next Chief Executive, Leona McDermid, who currently serves as the organisation's Executive Director. Leona will take up the post succeeding the founding Chief Executive, Ken Milroy, who is retiring after more than 22 years in the role.

Susan Elston, Chairman of the Foyer's Board noted, "Leona has already served the organisation well in her present role and will continue to do so bringing all her experience, commitment and energy to the fore as our new Chief Executive. Ken leaves the organisation in good heart having devoted the greater part of his career to establishing and developing the Foyer to be one of Scotland's leading Social Enterprises.”

Leona McDermid commented, "I am thrilled to be taking on the role of Chief Executive of the Foyer. Even before joining the organisation almost 10 years ago I was very aware of the Foyer's outstanding reputation and commitment to making a real difference in the lives of so many across the North East. The Foyer has always had an eye for opportunity and innovation and I am committed to maintaining and building on that legacy."

Ken Milroy, who will formally step down in August noted, "It has been a real privilege to serve as the Foyer's Chief Executive, it's just been the best job for me. What has made it so special is the great staff team that takes so much pride in their work and have made the organisation what it is today. I know Leona will be a great leader for the organisation taking it on to even greater success.”
