Aberdeen Foyer: Counsellors Required
Aberdeen Foyer is looking to create a small bank of volunteer counsellors to help increase the capacity of the counselling service provided for clients of Aberdeen Foyer.
A limited number of placements are also now available for students in the 2nd year of PG Diploma in Person Centred Counselling or 1st year students with appropriate prior counselling experience.
Aberdeen Foyer is a unique counselling setting and as such this is a valuable opportunity to gain counselling experience with young people age 16+ with complex presenting issues.
Aberdeen Foyer is one of three Foyers in Scotland and one of over 130 operating throughout the UK, all of which work to enable homeless and disadvantaged young people gain social and economic independence. There is a history of poor health among the client group, specifically mental health problems, malnourishment, high incidence of smoking, alcohol and drug use, lack of physical activity and limited access to mainstream health services.
The counselling service receives regular referrals from support staff and clients across Aberdeen Foyer, including sites in Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Banchory, Stonehaven and various sites in Aberdeen City. It is envisaged that volunteers would be identified for specific geographical areas.
Applicants should be individual members of BACP and have their own supervision arrangements. Aberdeen Foyer will provide an induction, peer support and training opportunities.
If you are interested in either of these opportunities, please email me with your CV and covering letter.
Thanks for your interest.
