Community Health Team
(aka 'Sorted' team)
Starting in October 2001 with it's first dedicated health initiative, 'Sorted Not Screwed Up' (mental health & wellbeing), Aberdeen Foyer now has a fully integrated Community Health Team.
This team comprises of three main areas of health support:
- mental health & wellbeing
- substance misuse (drugs)
- health improvement/lifestyle services
An example of the services provided include:
- Person-centred counselling
- Cognitive-behavioural therapy
- Fitness/lifestyle assessments
- Smoking cessation
- Training/staff consultation
- Access to complementary therapies
- Access to physical activities
- Advocacy
- Access to health information and resources
These complement the existing support offered to tenants in Foyer supported accommodation and to clients accessing the variety of programmes offered by the Education and Training team. Further details on each of the specialist health topic areas are to be found on each initiativeís own information pages (click on the appropriate link).
Staff also benefit from the Community Health Team's input into the Scotland's Health at Work scheme (currently working towards our Gold Award). There is also access to external confidential staff counselling services. |

Listen Up! A project by the Mental Health Foundation

In 2005, Aberdeen Foyer's wellbeing initiative 'Sorted' was selected by the Mental Health Foundation to be a part of their Positive Practice Group. Along with seven other sites across the UK, 'Sorted' shared good practice in working with young people experiencing mental health and emotional difficulties and the MHF met with staff and young people to look at the services and support offered.
This research informed the report, 'Listen Up!'. Please click here to go to the MHF's website and download the report.
